About Universal Design

If you’re happy with location, but need changes made to allow you to stay in your home, we can help. Living in a home appropriate to your life style and for the future is a wise investment for anyone. Simple modifications such as safety switches, types of flooring, doors with lever handles are all samples of modifying your home for the now and later.

Families purchasing a house or adding on for a growing family can make modifications that allow small children safe access to areas while also planning for unforeseen emergencies such as temporary utilization of a wheelchair, having a parent move into the home, etc. Examples of this might be wider door frames, roll-in showers, laundry chutes, and stairless entries.

We also understand the unique needs of the adult population who may need remodeling and home modifications to create a safe, easy to use, clutter and worry free environment through re-organization and installation of safety/mobility products. Examples of this might be changing the flooring to be more slip resistant, adding grab bars and railings, or cabinetry with pull down inserts to minimize getting up on a step stool.

We work with Certified Aging In Place specialists (CAPS) that help to identify the problem areas in the home that could cause an unsafe environment. Depending on the space, deciding to stay may be a more feasible, cost effective and comfortable choice than re-locating.
