Why organize?

I came across this article and wanted to pass it on. I've seen quite a few articles on
whether to organize or not to organize. Professional organizer Deb Lee runs a neat feature on her organizing blog every Friday, titled “Fact Friday.” She featured a statistic from 1992 “In a recent survey of 200 executives of 1,000 of the nation’s largest companies, respondents were asked: ‘What percent of time do executives waste because they or their assistants can’t find things?’ The median response was 4.3 hours a week, based on a 40-hour week.” If that was happening in 1992 to businesses which are generally considered to be organized, then what do you suppose the number is now with more job responsibility and less time?

I suppose that debate will continue for some time or until we decide to minimize our lifestyles. I can only add in our experiences with clients on that debate. Our company is founded on helping people create balance in their lives. It sounds extremely difficult to achieve, but it's not impossible. It seems that this year has gone a long way for people to start contemplating what life means to them. As bad as the economy has been it could be worse. Sometimes bad things open doors we might normally be too afraid to try.

Sometimes losing a job, as stressful and devastating as it can be, also pushes us to try new adventures. I can't tell you how many times I have heard people say that losing their job was the best thing that happened to them. Dads decide to stay at home with the kids and develop a bond that can never be altered. Entrepreneurs finally take the leap to start their own business. People start to realize that cooking from scratch does taste better. And for many, learning to live with less really is more.

Only you know the goals you're attempting to reach. But they can't be reached unless your willing to explore where organizing could take you. Take a chance on making a change.
